Paimio Chair by Alvar Aalto


Alvar Aalto was the modern architect of Finland, one of the important founders of modern architecture.

Paimio chair was specially designed for Paimio tuberculosis sanatorium. Without the standard industrial process and aesthetic requirements, this simple but easy to use furniture was made of bending birch and plywood, provides the patients who are suffering from tuberculosis with comfortable posture and feeling of sitting.
